Job Duties:
The Computer Support Specialist position will provide critical technology and data support for the Home and Community Based Services Center. This role will focus on streamlining the processing of data related to Medicaid-participating programs, directly targeting application upgrades in areas that impact Medicaid access and long-term care services. Duties include performing data systems maintenance, validation, and verification for provider application records. The systems utilized include the Health Commerce System (HCS) and Medicaid Data Warehouse (MDW). Employee is to ensure accuracy and completeness to accelerate processing of Medicaid-related applications.
Position will assist with data analysis, reporting, and project management to track pending applications, identify delays, prioritize high-impact Medicaid provider submissions, and produce reports that drive backlog reduction efforts. They will provide general computer support, training, technical documentation and technical assistance to DOH staff, applicants, and consultant representatives on navigation and data entry in HCS, MDW, and related portals—facilitating faster submission and review of provider applications tied to Medicaid participation. Employees will support process improvement by developing or enhancing technology tools, workflow automation, and efficiency measures to minimize manual processing steps, reduce errors, and expedite turnaround. They will work with and coordinate with other DOH Bureaus, Centers/Divisions, and state agencies on data and systems matters related to provider applications and Medicaid long-term care programs.
Qualifications for Success:
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires an associate degree or higher, experience creating/maintaining databases, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access. Excel, SharePoint), data analysis/reporting skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities, strong attention to detail, and the capacity to handle multiple shifting priorities independently or collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experience with NYS DOH systems (e.g., HCS, MDW) would enable rapid impact on application processing.
