The Assistant Director of Cost Accounting and Performance Management is a System level position tasked to administer the cost accounting and productivity management systems for AMHS. It provides system level analytical and technical support regarding cost accounting analysis, and labor management support efforts.
This position will be responsible for assisting with the role out of the StataJazz decision support system that will structure data with flexible reporting and analysis tools that make the data more accessible and consumable. It will help leaders quantify the potential impacts of business decisions and strategic planning efforts.
The Assistant Director of Cost Accounting and Performance Management will work under the direction of the Director of Decision Support to engage with each System entity to ensure all aspects of the cost accounting and productivity system are set up to its optimal standards by working with relevant teams throughout AMHS. This would include working with clinical leaders to develop and maintain cost studies, review productivity standards, and the vendor during and post go-live. Post-live functions may include, but are not limited to, standardizing costing methodologies and other financial reporting from decision support to ensure consistency and comparability across the System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting with development and on-going maintenance of, cost accounting, clinical variation, and productivity management reporting.
Assist in the development of System-wide costing standards utilizing the enhanced data collection capabilities of the EPIC platform and indirect expense allocation methodologies. This includes working with affiliates to appropriately institute entity specific reclasses, recoveries, and statistical step downs.
At the direction of the Director of Decision Support, develop and implement a well-organized structure for data gathering in order to make certain that all financial costing and productivity data is presented in a uniform and consistent manner to ensure comparability and benchmarking across the System.
Assist with aligning health system benefits of consolidated charge description master and ERP to ensure affiliate inclusion and consistency.
Provides costing analytics to assist Value Analysis Team with decision making.
Proliferates the Director of Decision supports goals for oversight, supervision, mentorship, training, and all associated human resource responsibilities for all reporting categories of staff. (Cost Accounting, Productivity Management).
Supports Executive leadership team with financial analysis and insight for business operation improvement initiatives.
Responsible for maintaining and testing System functionality, including implementation of end user dashboards.
Provide support to Executive Leadership teams, system CFO’s and Vice Presidents, Directors, Department Administrators and Physicians throughout the system integration.
Develop and maintain professional relationships including, but not limited to, affiliate leaders, external auditors, government regulators, consultants, trade associations and third- party insurers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business or a related discipline - required
Master's Degree Master's degree can substitute for 2 years direct work experience - preferred
A minimum of 5 years healthcare finance experience that includes relevant knowledge of physician practice financial operations - required
A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience - preferred
Strong project management skills.
Strong understanding of cost accounting including overhead allocation methods.
Extensive understanding of both Hospital and Practice RVU modeling.
Advanced data management skills.
Working knowledge of Payroll, inclusive of Pay Practices.
Strong analytical skills with expertise in statistical and financial modeling.
Working understanding of health care general ledger setup and structure, human resource, pharmacy, and supply management tools.
Strong understanding of financial decision support tools.
Excellent verbal and writing skills.
Strong organizational ability including ability to document within structured tools various initiatives.
A working style to effectively work/partner across entities and disciplines.
Strong leadership skills and detailed oriented.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire - preferred
