CHILDRENS HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER OF AKRON Sterile Processing Technician in Akron, Ohio
Full-time, 40 hours/weekM-F Days, 6:30AM-3PM Every other weekend and Holiday rotationOnsite Akron, OH Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for a combination of the following functions: decontamination, cleaning, assembly and sterilization of all instruments, and inventory control of Sterile Processing and Operating Room [OR] supplies. Responsibilities: Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterilization of all instruments and equipment Responsible for inventory control of Sterile Processing and OR supplies. Must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization, and regulatory standards biological monitoring. Ability to operate all sterilization equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions. Follows procedures for ordering and receiving supplies Participates in educational efforts for the department, unit, and hospital. Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager. Other duties as required. Other information: Technical Expertise Experience working with all levels within an organization is required. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent is required. Certification within one year of employment and/or one extension of 3 months to pass. Note: If certification is not passed, employee may remain in this position with only annual increase eligibility (and market adjustments as needed) Physical Requirements Ability to push and pull carts containing medical supplies and instruments. Ability to stand for extended periods during shift hours. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Exposure to biohazardous materials and sharp instruments; adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols is required.
