About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Utilities, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
This position can be based in either the Akron, OH or Fairmont, WV Control Center facility.
Responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership & Application Support
Serve as a technical lead for Operations in the development, configuration, and support of critical work management programs.
Support communication across business units regarding project needs for applications managed by Operations.
Be or become proficient in various applications, software, analysis packages, and visualization tools including iTOA, FALLS, Tesla Demand Forecasting, Microsoft Power Platform, and Office Suite.
Provide off-hours support for the Control Room as needed during large restoration incidents (typically infrequent).
Database & Application Administration
Define data requirements, maintenance procedures, and operational guidelines.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data.
Maintain security and internal controls for data integrity.
Formulate and monitor policies, procedures, and standards related to databases.
Collaborate with business units to implement enhancements that improve application performance and reliability.
Reporting, Analytics & Business Intelligence
Support business intelligence by assisting in the design, testing, and debugging of Power Platform applications including Power BI dashboards and reports.
Develop, update, and maintain reporting of key metrics and benefit realization.
Work across Transmission Operations to ensure effective and consistent reporting and analysis.
Mine data using query tools across various databases and systems.
Prepare technical reports and summaries (including ad hoc requests) and present findings as needed.
Develop tools, templates, and communication methods.
Process Development & Improvement
Recommend and implement solutions to complex issues and assignments.
Develop process improvements for moderately complex work processes and/or projects.
Develop process mapping and guidance for business processes.
Qualifications at the Associate or Business Analyst level include:
Two to four-year degree in Engineering, Business Administration/Management, Information Science, Information Systems Management, or related discipline is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years related work experience required. In lieu of a degree, 4 years of related experience will be required.
Relevant experience includes development, configuration, management, or operation of applications and programs with an understanding of the relevant subject matter.
Experience with any or all the following internal and external applications:
Energy Management System (EMS)
Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA) / integrated Tools for Operations Application (iTOA)
System Outage Request (SOR) application
Fault Analysis Lightning Location System (FALLS)
