Job Title: Journeyman Millwright Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright/Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team and work on semi-local projects within the Southern Alberta area. You will travel in a company service truck from our shop in Airdrie to various sites, working on equipment as needed. The work schedule is typically 8-10 hours per day, with weekends off, except in cases of travel to other cities in Alberta, where accommodations and meals will be provided. You may also need to be available for emergency night calls 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
Perform startups, servicing, repairs, overhauls, and warranty work independently in remote locations.
Diagnose and troubleshoot engine compressor problems.
Provide recommendations to the Service Coordinator and clients.
Verify proper settings and adjustments, including alignment, pull downs, rod run out, ESM, fuel gas pressure and settings, crankcase pressure, flange torquing, and cooler checks.
Prioritize unit repairs based on downtime, customer importance, potential losses, and efficient working methods.
Provide high-level customer service.
Maintain documentation of mechanical services, labor time entry, expenses, and parts orders.
Complete and submit paperwork related to startups, servicing, and warranty work.
Provide guidance to apprentice mechanics.
Order parts as necessary.
Essential Skills
Journeyman ticket.
2-5+ years’ experience with Waukesha & Caterpillar Engines and natural gas-driven compressors.
Ability to understand plans and blueprints.
Comprehend and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and compression systems.
Knowledge of gas compression packages, panels, controls, instrumentation, and package operation.
Understanding of mounting and alignment, commissioning, package operations, mechanical components, instrumentation, and electronics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
New package commissioning is an asset.
Ability to work well with others and as part of a team.
Experience with natural gas compression units and gas process equipment.
Familiarity with manufacturers such as Waukesha, CAT, Mycom, and D-R.

Work Environment
The position involves fieldwork across Airdrie, Calgary, and other parts of Central Alberta. You will report to the PES Service Coordinator and Manager and may supervise an apprentice in the future. The role requires strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment over 25 kilograms, as well as good coordination and manual dexterity. Some work at heights or outdoors may be required. The standard shift is Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with the potential for additional hours on weekends depending on workload. A service truck is provided for all fieldwork.
