PCC/GCC Wet Side Operator Job in Berkshire County Schedule: 6a-2p, 2p-10p Pay: \$26.84 - \$34.83/hr The basic purpose of this position is to operate the carbonating and slaking systems and related equipment used to produce PCC and GCC products. Major Duties & Responsibilities - Operates the slaking, carbonating, and screening systems to produce the designated PCC products, utilizing an automated process controller. - Operates the Ultra-Pflex? heat aging circuits. - Operates the #4 and #5 Albacar? drying circuits - Observes physical properties of product to ensure quality of product - Continually monitors system and instruments controlling the process - Maintains a clean work area - Performs utility work as assigned according to established Standard Operating Procedures - Cleans the PCC production areas according to established Standard Operating Procedures which includes working at heights, operating high pressure water hose and vacuum system - Carries out all procedures for changing products (i.e. flushing lines, shutting off valves, etc., and ensures correct product flow to designated tanks) - Performs and interprets various quality control tests; utilizes SPC techniques to analyze and interpret quality and production results - Enters production data and work orders into established company computer systems - Rotates to the outside Operator duties which includes sampling of WIP products on both Wet Side and Dry Side Miscellaneous: - Records pertinent labor and/or production information from work shift - Completes safety inspection sheets for work areas - Conduct 5S activities and standard work activities as required - Communicates issues/status with next shift and with other production/maintenance/packaging personnel - Assists maintenance staff with repairs of equipment as needed - Trains other employees as required - Performs other duties as assigned OE/Lean: - Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving. Note: Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Prior experience is not required. However, it is preferred. Licensing: Current valid Driver\'s License. Other endorsements may be required, depending upon the nature of the vehicle being operated. Incumbent must meet applicable Federal and/or State regulations/requirements regarding qualifications of drivers. Work Hours: Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays and weekends, as necessary. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, an employee is typically exposed to very hot temperatures, outside weather conditions, dust, loud noise, very low and/or bright light and hazardous materials. Works alone and as part of a team working in close proximity to others, and works in close proximity with equipment. At times, employee may be exposed to high places.
