Second Chance Composting LLC Food Scraps/Organics Team Member in Adams, Massachusetts

Job Tasks - Working closely with our Route Operations Manager to safely and efficiently operate the collection route. - Operating or assisting in the operation of our trucks. - Operating or assisting in operation of our hydraulic dump trailer and/or utility trailer. This includes, but is not limited to, hitching and unhitching of trailers using towing balls, jacks, chains, and wires. - Operating necessary hauling equipment, including, but not limited to: hydraulic tote tipper, generator, batteries, hot and/or cold water pressure washer, inverter, water tank, water pumps, spigots, hoses, ratchets, straps, and ropes. - Equipment maintenance, repairs, and upkeep that can be done on the route or off route, including but not limited to changing a battery, checking fuses, changing of oils, filling water tanks, and filling gas tanks. - Lifting, handling, and rolling of 32, 35, and 48-gallon wheeled containers. Visually inspecting containers for contamination and removing contamination if found. - Lifting and handling of bagged material including but not limited to bagged leaves and bagged floral material. - Rinsing of totes and/or removing frozen material from totes via scraping tools. Visually inspecting each tote afterward to ensure cleanliness. - Rinsing of trucks and/or trailers. Visually inspecting each afterward to ensure cleanliness. - Frequent in and out of trucks and trailers in order to move equipment, material, and/or remove contamination. - Recording and reporting data. - Respectful, warm, and friendly customer service at all times, including both on our property, property owned by others, and in public. Qualifications - Minimal one year of driving experience. Ideally, previous experience with trailers. - Strong communication skills, ability to listen, and willingness to learn. - Ability to meet demands of physically demanding tasks/work. - Willingness to follow protocol, rules, and direction. - Willingness to offer feedback, ideas, and thoughts on best operating practices. - Ability to problem solve and work under stressful conditions. - Ability to effectively and efficiently manage time and tasks. - Ability to perform basic maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of equipment and tools. Requirements - Honesty. Respect. Professionalism. Punctuality. - Bend, twist, stoop, jump, and climb repeatedly. - Handle equipment and totes up to 350 pounds, typically 150-200 pounds - Lift 50 pounds safely. - Climb in and out of the truck bed and trailer often with comfort and ease. - Execute repetitive tasks over time. - Operate outdoors, in all types of weather, conditions, and temperatures. - Valid Driver\'s License. - Complete a background check. - Passion for our future and a desire to make our environment, community, planet, and world a better place.
