Publicis West Africa (PWA) serves as a regional hub office for its client operations in the Central & West Africa region, encompassing around 22 markets. Among these, approximately 10 markets are actively engaged and act as sub-regional hubs for neighboring markets. Campaign work is predominantly crafted in English, French, and Portuguese, with various local dialects also prevalent in the markets we operate in. Collaborations with partner agencies in Francophone markets, Angola, and Nigeria, are essential to ensure impactful local delivery. Notably, communication within the Publicis network agencies is conducted in English, both in spoken conversations and via email.
Overview
Purpose of the Role
The Copywriter is responsible for developing high‑quality, insight‑driven creative ideas and written content that meet client briefs and uphold both local and international creative standards. Working in close partnership with Art Directors, Creative Directors, strategy, client service, and external partners, the role delivers compelling, on‑brand copy across all channels—ATL, BTL, digital, and activation—while protecting brand identity, meeting deadlines, and proactively contributing to the agency’s creative excellence and collaborative culture.
Responsibilities
(including but not limited to):
Develop consistently high‑quality, insight‑driven copy that responds accurately to client briefs, brand objectives, and agency creative standards.
Generate and develop strong creative ideas by interpreting briefs and collaborating closely with Art Directors on integrated, through‑the‑line campaigns.
Create compelling headlines, scripts, and dialogue across all channels, including television, print, outdoor, radio, activation, ambient, and digital.
Confidently present and sell creative ideas and concepts to internal stakeholders and external clients in a clear, professional manner.
Translate creative ideas into clear, well‑researched production briefs and actionable instructions for suppliers and production partners.
Oversee and manage the creative execution and production process, ensuring attention to detail, creative integrity, and effective follow‑through.
Collaborate effectively with strategy, client service, and external partners, contributing as a strong team player and, where required, a creative lead.
Lead and actively participate in brainstorming sessions and creative development discussions.
Manage workload efficiently, working under pressure and meeting deadlines without compromising creative quality.
Proactively anticipate challenges and identify solutions throughout the creative and production process.
Protect and uphold each brand’s identity, tone, and personality in line with approved brand guidelines.
Manage and deliver content outputs in line with the approved brief, scope, and timelines.
Ensure all creative work receives Creative Director approval prior to client presentation.
