WSP Middle East are currently looking for a Principal Engineer - SCADA & Technology to be based in our Abu Dhabi office.

• Provide overall engineering solutions, analysis, specifications, and procurement support for the infra projects

• Define SCADA design principles, system topologies, and engineering guidelines in the kickoff of the project

• Leading creation of SCADA design packages:

• Architecture diagrams

• Network design

• Control center layouts

• Interface definitions

• Firewall and segmentation designLead technical design reviews with the team, and relevant multidiscipline

• Own and maintain the development of SCADA Design templates and Design Manuals.

• Develop reusable templates, checklists, and engineering tools for design teams.

• Ensure design alignment with Client technology roadmap.

• Prepare time schedules, resource plan and assist in preparation of budgets.

• Manage Engineers and CAD team and provide tech support.

• Responsible for the overall design development cycle from vision master planning stage, CMP, DMP through to detailed design of the Technology, Telecom and SCADA systems includes designing civil networks, active, passive components, GSM coverage maps, sensors, IIOT gateways, smart control hardware and functional specifications for automated and smart processes of the Infrastructure Water.

• Lead the SCADA design of Electrical networks and\or Plants, This includes overall engineering and analysis for the state of art for the followings:

• Transmission/Distribution substations

• Water treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs

• Smart City control centers

• Distributed OT assets (street lighting, energy meters, IoT sensors, EV charging, district cooling, utilities corridors)

• Master SCADA architecture for multi-utility integration within smart city ecosystems. Technology elements of different types of Infrastructure networks as Water, Energy, Waste, Environment, Mobility.

• Specialist in Tunnel management system (TMS).

• Specialist in smart energy and smart lighting technology.

• Support in driving smart city cases relevant to power and water for infrastructure projects.

• Ensuring that designs meet necessary standards, requirements, and specifications by managing and supporting the design team, assigning tasks and reviewing designs and acting as a mentor., and stays up to date about current technology trends and techniques, in the smart design field.

• Evaluate next-generation technologies:

• AI-based predictive operations

• Cloud-based SCADA (where allowed)

• Edge computing for distributed utility assets

• Large-scale IoT networks in smart cities

• Present to client’s senior leadership, and other project stakeholders to demonstrate the design progress and provide a clear explanation of the technology design implementation strategy.

• Ensuring to create a comprehensive design strategy for the Technology and SCADA systems based on project execution plans, and the delivery process which satisfies the client scope of services and expectations.

• Advise and present engineering solutions to clients and stakeholders.

• Familiar with local regulations/ guidelines in UAE, KSA and/or Qatar.

• Familiar with Civil3D, Navisworks and Microsoft office to produce/Review the deliverables.

• Follow the QA/QC in compliance with the requirement of the projects

• Organize and attend progress meetings/communications with contractors, consultants and authorities.

• Minimize end users’ comments and hence ensure clients satisfaction and quality of deliverables.

• Ensure that the design meets all relevant codes and standards.

• Review of Contractor shop drawings and materials submittals.

• BEng /BSc (Hon) or equivalent discipline with minimum 15 years post graduate experience

• Member of/working towards associated Professional body membership

• Compiling authority approval documentation in accordance with local authority standards to obtain approvals

• Must have extensive experience of working on multiple technology systems for large infrastructure projects within Middle East.

• Must have an extensive knowledge and experience in different application of routing and switching with the relevant active components, different Types of water and electrical Instrumentation, Telecommunication transmission systems, 4G/5G Radio planning, Micro Cells, SCADA Protocols, and Tunnel Management Systems (TMS-SCADA).
