Elmdale RV Park LLC Assistant Porter / Groundskeeper in Abilene, Texas
Position Overview The Assistant Porter / Groundskeeper plays a key support role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of the RV park. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and alongside the Maintenance and Porter teams, this position focuses on daily upkeep of park grounds, facilities, and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in their work, and has a strong attention to detail. This is a hands-on role that requires initiative, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining high property standards across the community.
Key Responsibilities Groundskeeping and Landscaping Maintain park grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, watering, and general landscape upkeep. Assist with seasonal tasks such as pruning, mulching, planting, and leaf or debris removal. Keep roadways, walkways, and outdoor common areas clean, free of litter, and in good condition. Monitor irrigation systems and report leaks or malfunctions promptly.
Facility and Common Area Maintenance Support daily cleaning and upkeep of shared spaces such as restrooms, laundry facilities, and community buildings. Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated collection areas. Assist with light repairs, painting, or general maintenance as directed by the Maintenance team. Report any maintenance or safety issues observed during routine duties.
Operational Support Assist Porters and Maintenance Technicians with projects, setups, or cleanup tasks as needed. Help prepare vacant RV sites by cleaning, repairing, and ensuring all utilities are in order prior to new resident arrival. Maintain inventory of cleaning and landscaping supplies, notifying supervisors when replenishment is needed. Operate small machinery and tools safely and responsibly (e.g., lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers).
Safety and Compliance Follow all company safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and proper equipment use procedures. Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, or hazards to a supervisor. Maintain a neat, organized, and professional appearance while representing the park to residents and visitors.
Qualifications Ability to safely operate basic landscaping tools and maintenance equipment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions. Valid drivers license preferred.
