The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design, fabrication, integration, and testing of mechanical systems associated with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and related mission platforms. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced prototyping and production environment where designs move quickly from concept to build to operational use. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians supporting real-world engineering efforts across multiple active projects.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and modification of mechanical components and assemblies
Develop and update 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software
Support fabrication, fit checks, and mechanical integration activities
Participate in tolerance analysis and basic structural evaluations
Assist with development of build documentation and assembly instructions
Support ground testing and validation of mechanical assemblies
Help troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause analysis efforts
Assist in maintaining engineering documentation and configuration control
Collaborate with electrical, aerospace, and systems teams during integration efforts
Qualifications:
Required:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
Experience with 3D CAD modeling software
Foundational understanding of mechanics, materials, and manufacturing principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a hands-on lab and fabrication environment
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
Desired:
Experience with prototyping, fabrication, or machine shop environments
Familiarity with composite materials or additive manufacturing
Exposure to structural analysis or FEA tools
Prior internship, lab research, or engineering project team experience

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$39,900-$79,900
