The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location. The Sr. Economic Analyst will be an integral member of a global corporate economics department, working in a team-based environment to support and promote the economics function at Abbott. The Sr. Economic Analyst will apply a working knowledge of economic and financial market principles to understand the external environment and support ongoing business needs.
What You’ll Work On
In this role you will work on a variety of projects that support Abbott’s global businesses, focusing on industry and market analysis. Specific tasks may include:
Applying statistical and financial analysis of public and private data, to provide timely insights of underlying trends and patterns for key markets
Constructing and maintaining various economic indexes, dashboards, and other data visualization & reporting tools
Monitoring and tracking changes in global financial markets and how they relate to economic, healthcare, geopolitical, and industry risks
Contributing research, econometric and time series analysis, and data visualization to department reports and communications
Required Qualifications
A degree in Economics, Finance, or related quantitative field
Demonstrated experience working with data from multiple sources, building and validating datasets, and conducting econometric or financial analysis
5+ years of prior work experience in an economic or financial analyst role
Preferred Qualifications
Strong Excel skills, experience with econometric/statistics software, and a willingness to learn other software tools as needed
Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and themes to a general business audience
The ability to work on both independent and group projects, and to interact with internal colleagues across functions and levels, while contributing to the overall growth of the team
A strong interest in economic and financial issues along with the curiosity and desire to develop their personal skill set

The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
