The Opportunity
This is a full time position that works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the GES Global Engineering Services division. This is a rotating 12hr night shift position, 4 nights on shift - 4 nights off shift. Hours 6pm – 6:30am.
The primary function of this position is to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant utility systems that support manufacturing and facility operations. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient performance of critical utilities including boilers, chillers, HVAC, compressed air, water treatment, steam systems, and other infrastructure equipment.
What You’ll Work On
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on plant utility equipment, including boilers, HVAC systems, air compressors, pumps, RO/DI water systems, and cooling towers.
Troubleshoot and resolve utility equipment issues to maintain safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
Execute maintenance activities on mechanical, pneumatic, hydronic, and rotating equipment systems.
Ensure proper operation and performance of critical utility systems such as steam, chilled water, potable water, wastewater, and compressed air.
Respond promptly to system alarms, equipment malfunctions, and abnormal operating conditions.
Diagnose equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions to restore full functionality.
Repair or replace components including valves, pumps, motors, sensors, instruments, actuators, filters, and piping.
Perform machine modifications, upgrades, and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping and associated systems for steam, hot water, cooling, lubrication, sprinklers, and industrial processing applications.
Conduct fabrication, machining, welding, and installation activities for new equipment or modifications to existing assets.
Use precision tools, diagnostic instruments, and calibration equipment to perform highquality mechanical maintenance tasks.
Follow all plant and department policies, including GMPs, JSAs, SOPs, LOTO, and general safety rules.
Interpret and utilize complex technical documents, including manuals, schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs, to support installation, modification, and maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
3+ years of experience in utilities, industrial maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
Working knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, pumps, piping, electrical systems, or automation controls.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&IDs, schematics, and equipment drawings.
Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS platforms.

The base pay for this position is $22.50 – $45.00 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
