Job Summary (Function and Scope): SUNY RF is seeking an experienced director of program operations for the State's largest AmeriCorps program, the Empire State Service Corps, supporting over 1,000 SUNY students and 700 AmeriCorps members across an anticipated 60 program sites in a part-time 300 hour paid service work commitment. The director of program operations will be responsible for all program operations, planning and delivery, including team management, staff development, program delivery, location management, administrative oversight and management of programs and new program development. A key component of the role will be serving as the project lead on professional development and training activities for the corps members and professional development for the campus coordinators, as well as development and oversight of campus and program specific budgets and operational considerations. SUNY Empire State Service Corps members receive customized training from a variety of organizational partners with national expertise; the director of program operations will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with critical organizational partners. Due to the rapid growth of the Empire State Service Corps, SUNY RF is looking for a highly organized, clear communicator with experience leading adults through a highly regulated program model with fidelity and significant operational leadership prior experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Owner and creator of all program project planning, event planning, outreach efforts, and program operations

  • Responsible for long-term planning and scope/sequence of all program components

  • Create and manage professional development packages for 60+ coordinators and 1,000 corps members

  • Create and deliver trainings, monthly webinars, and mini sessions as applicable to both students and staff coordinators

  • Provide on-going and clear feedback and decision rationale with the 60+ campus coordinators

  • Ensuring fidelity to the program model and oversight for the 200+ host sites

  • Some travel (in-state) to campus host sites may be required

  • Work with the executive director on establishing campus specific budgets, train campuses on allowable expenses and provide clear direction on allowable costs, audit and track campus funding distributions and ensure compliance with allowable expenses guidelines

  • Help develop a strategy for the evaluation of programs using established by AmeriCorps metrics and practices

  • Check-ins with campus coordinators or regional campus coordinator team calls

  • Lead whole team meetings on Summer Corps and year over year relaunch planning

  • Creates/develops custom programs/training as they arise, with cost estimates & staffing requirements

  • Tracks program interest/feedback from the community, program participants and families, including building in time for self-reflection

    Job Requirements:

Required Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • More than 5+ years experience leading training, professional development activities, or other educational activities of large groups

  • 2 or more years prior experience in a director of operations role (or similar position)

Preferred Education/Qualifications:

  • Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines, as well as having multiple interested stakeholders;

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities;

  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail;

  • Excellent communication skills including working with multiple campus contacts;

  • Able to lead and scope and sequence professional development activities and long-term planning initiatives

  • Experience leading adults as well as students

Salary: $85,000-$95,000 depending on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, certifications, and internal equity.
